On 26-27 February 2025, social media professionals and nature communicators of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation gathered in Sankt Peter-Ording for the sixth Wadden Sea Social Media Workshop. Organised by the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat, the event strengthened collaboration and enhanced impactful communication approaches in digital outreach in support of protecting the Wadden Sea.

Led by a team of social media experts, the participants explored 2025 social media trends and analysed their own work. A key element was the creation of own content with professional support. Half of the group went out into the Wadden Sea landscape to practice and improve their video content creation, while the other half explored new tools for more efficient streamlining of content design.

The workshop also featured a thought-provoking presentation on fast fashion dumps in Ghana by photojournalist Kevin McElvaney and addressing plastic litter production at home by Jennifer Timrott of Küste Gegen Plastik e.V., sparking discussions on global environmental challenges.

The event was used as opportunity to network among colleagues, exchange content ideas, and explore joint future campaigns. Outside of the annual workshop, the group continues its exchange throughout the year with monthly online session.
