Guidance Tool: Power Cables in the Wadden Sea

As part of the LANICE project, the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation (TWSC) has developed the guidance tool “Power Cables in the Wadden Sea – Physical Pressures, Environmental Impacts and Mitigation Measures” to support a better understanding of how cables may interact with the habitats and species of the Wadden Sea. The tool allows users to explore the main environmental pressures associated with cable installation, how these pressures may affect habitats and species, and the approaches available to avoid or reduce impacts. It also highlights the importance of environmentally aware and efficient routing, early planning, and low-impact installation techniques in helping to minimise disturbance to sensitive coastal and marine environments.
